A wealth of TEFL courses

So says the Kingdom Newspaper in this article. I am inclined to agree but then they go on to become basically a press release for a new TEFL training program in Ireland.
Over in Malta: “The first 300 candidates who successfully passed a new test for TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) teachers were presented with their letters of appointment yesterday.” 300 new teachers?
I guess there are a lot of TEFL training programs out there and it is turning into a bit of a big business. I kind of wonder where all of those teachers are going, so many training programs, but is there really a demand for all of these new teachers?
