Get Pesos
Currently, I am busy moving over some of the unique forum posts from the TEFLWatch Forums over to my new Get Pesos Forum. My goal is to move just about every pertinent post over to Get Pesos where the information can reside for as long as it needs to. This is good news to anyone interested in making sure that information stays available.
I am still not certain how I will classify a post as pertinent, but I guess I am the only one who can make that call at this stage. It should be good.
At The End Of A TEFL Career
I am saddened by news reports that I have been reading lately concerning former TEFL teachers ending up in bad situations. They invested years of their life in teaching and now are left penniless, without a pension and with very little hope for the future. Some have even resorted to suicide. It’s a very sad thing indeed.
It’s easy to say what they should have done to avoid the problems, but should have done is cold solace when you are at the end of a TEFL career. I wish there was something I could say or do, but about all I can come up with is to advise TEFL newbies to take a long hard look at the end of a TEFL career before they start in one.
Read My Interview
The Thailand Teaching site, Ajarn.com has decided to interview me about the forum that I have recently decided to close. Without enough time to devote to the work of it and the facts that many online bullies have decided to use it as their personal playground, I have decided that it might be a good idea to close it up. It’s now closed for good.

All in all it has been a good run and I am happy to be here helping teachers get a better break and teaching them how to improve their lives with their own business.
Do Something Else
So many people dwell on the past and all of the bad things that have befell them, but they end up doing nothing; instead of doing something else. See, believe it or not, when you are doing nothing, you are really doing something. You pushing yourself further away from your goals, you are letting life pass you buy. Without a doubt, when you are doing nothing, you are doing something.
It’s better to do something different. Don’t think about focusing on something different or think about doing something different, do it. Do something different. Take charge of your life, you don’t have to let someone decide what path you are going to take. You have free agency in life and you can exercise your own free agency by doing something different.
If you want to quit smoking, don’t stop smoking. Do something different. Find another activity to occupy your time. If you hate your career, don’t sit around complaining or search for the ultimate job that doesn’t exist, find a new career. Do it now, don’t wait.
In Business, Love, Life and whatever, stop doing nothing and start doing something else!
Adventure Travel Abroad
I am sure you have all read the advertisements that proclaim that you can go abroad and have an adventure teaching English in exotic countries around the world. It seems like the same old mantra time and time again. Without a doubt, the ads prey on our desire to see the world.
That’s a good desire, don’t get me wrong, but it’s wrong to assume that true teaching and adventure travel can go hand in hand for everyone. For those wanting to travel and earn money around the world, English teaching is the one job offered up time and time again as the best way to work abroad. Unfortunately, the reality lies far away from the truth.
I know, I fell into that trap myself. Don’t get me wrong, for people who love teaching and love the classroom, there is no better way to see the world. Fortunately, there are now opportunities to make money in just about any country around the world if you’ve got a laptop and some kind of access to the internet. In many cases, with the same amount of work, you can earn much more on the net and have much more personal freedom than you would have as a teacher.
Maybe I should start offering a $1500 course to tell people how to do this? Nah, but I have started a website to help people do just this. More on that when it is ready to go public. If you want to experience an adventure travel lifestyle, you need to explore every alternative, even those opportunities that do not involve teaching.
