The market is exploding wide open in terms of ways to promote your company online. You used to have to pay so much for access to mass media, but now you can have access with just the cost of some basic equipment like a computer and a digital camera along with some web hosting.

For example, you can easily make up a promotional video and then upload it on various video services. You can promo your business and if you add some humor in it, you might get it picked up by others. Make sure you allow others to embed the video on their sites and then you have a commercial for your business on a wide range of sites.

Pretty cool, right?

Get Your Own Business

I have talked about this time and time again, the best way to get ahead is to get into your own business. You need to be able to get your own business and start down the pathway to success. All of this, oh, my job sucks, I have no opportunities, has got to end.

The reality is this, you are responsible for your own failures. There may be bad schools out there, but if you use a little common sense, do your research and use the tools to find out about schools, then you will avoid almost all of problems. I’m here to say that the ultimate solution to job problems is to get your own business. Be your own boss.

If you want to stay in the TEFL field, then go ahead and open your own school like some acquaintances of mine. They got tired of being shafted by schools and they decided to make their own online English school. Way to go. They’ve got a lot of work left to go, but they are the path.

Face it, if you don’t like your boss, the perfect solution is to be your own boss and avoid problems.

Adventure Travel Abroad

I am sure you have all read the advertisements that proclaim that you can go abroad and have an adventure teaching English in exotic countries around the world. It seems like the same old mantra time and time again. Without a doubt, the ads prey on our desire to see the world.

That’s a good desire, don’t get me wrong, but it’s wrong to assume that true teaching and adventure travel can go hand in hand for everyone. For those wanting to travel and earn money around the world, English teaching is the one job offered up time and time again as the best way to work abroad. Unfortunately, the reality lies far away from the truth.

I know, I fell into that trap myself. Don’t get me wrong, for people who love teaching and love the classroom, there is no better way to see the world. Fortunately, there are now opportunities to make money in just about any country around the world if you’ve got a laptop and some kind of access to the internet. In many cases, with the same amount of work, you can earn much more on the net and have much more personal freedom than you would have as a teacher.

Maybe I should start offering a $1500 course to tell people how to do this? Nah, but I have started a website to help people do just this. More on that when it is ready to go public. If you want to experience an adventure travel lifestyle, you need to explore every alternative, even those opportunities that do not involve teaching.
