Sound Off on Corrupt Practices

On another article, Gary Mandude made the following comment:

Corruption is endemic in Thailand with every school, government or private, a little feudel kingdom. Instead of continuing this tirade against one man, how about setting your laser sights on the corrupt practices that have driven some of the best and most talented teachers out of Thailand?

He’s right. We do need to focus on these issues, not just in Thailand, but throughout the TEFL World.

The reports I keep hearing out of Thailand are pure BS. I don’t know why TEFL teachers are putting up with so much BS, but they are. I got images right now of teachers in shirt and ties running out of the side gate of decrepit old schools with immigration police in hot pursuit. Why would anyone go through that?

Time for a new poll and I am anxious to know what you think the best country for a newbie teacher is? Best in terms of salary, conditions, and other opportunities to get their feet wet.
