7 Deadly Medical Myths?
You know some of the things that you have heard was the truth in medicine? They may not be the truth after all. According to a paper issued by the British Medical Journal, 7 common myths were studied by two American researchers. They examined the myths and proved that they are indeed not true.
I think it’s kind of interesting just how much much we start to believe a myth and then completely expand on it until there is just no truth to it at all. I found that these myths were interesting indeed. Of course none of them are deadly, but at least I got you to click.
*You need to drink 8 glasses of water a day.
Despite frequent mentions in the popular press of the need to drink eight glasses of water, they found no scientific basis for the claim.* Reading in dim light ruins your eyesight
The majority of eye experts believe it is unlikely to do any permanent damage, but it may make you squint, blink more and have trouble focusing, the researchers said.
* Shaving makes hair grow back faster or coarser
It has no effect on the thickness or rate of hair regrowth, studies say. But stubble lacks the finer taper of unshaven hair, giving the impression of coarseness.
* Eating turkey makes you drowsy
It does contain an amino acid called tryptophan that is involved in sleep and mood control. But turkey has no more of the acid than chicken or minced beef. Eating lots of food and drink at Christmas are probably the real cause of sleepiness.
* We use only 10 percent of our brains
This myth arose as early as 1907 but imaging shows no area of the brain is silent or completely inactive.
* Hair and fingernails continue to grow after death
This idea may stem from ghoulish novels. The researchers said the skin dries out and retracts after death, giving the appearance of longer hair or nails.
* Mobile phones are dangerous in hospitals
Despite widespread concerns, studies have found minimal interference with medical equipment.
I Found My Place For Boots
I love wearing boots. They are comfortable and they just feel a lot more sturdy. They support my ankles and I just feel more productive in a pair of boots. I remember when we lived out in Midland, I’d always buy my boots from Cavender’s. I liked their selection and their prices on boots and western wear. For so long I missed buying my boots at Cavender’s, but then I discovered that they have a website where you can buy the same boots you can buy in their stores. That’s a sweet bonus.
New Employment Site
I am currently working a remake of a tefl jobs site. I am trying to create a place where people can upload resumes and have employers find them. It will be a complement to Great TEFL jobs. I am just looking for some feedback on what you would expect to find in an employment site? What kind of features would you like to see? What kind of features would you find most beneficial in your job search?
If you have got ideas of what you’d like to see in a jobs site, I’d love to hear them and see if I can add them to my newest site.
Auto Loans: Key To Saving Money
I am continuing my research on getting a new car and all of the financing options available for me. It’s important that I find auto loans that work for me and my families personal financial situation, especially since the economy isn’t looking as nice as it was just a couple of weeks ago. Finding a good loan is even more imperative because it can save me money.
That’s why I am looking at the auto loans available through Apex Auto Loan. They have good service and can really help you get into the car you want. That’s important right now. It’s important to know that you’ll get the financing you need to get you on the road.
Abundancy And Good Records
Lately, I have been taking a lot more care in trying to get an accurate picture of our income at any time. I know I should already be doing that, but it’s sometimes easier just to wait for the 1099’s to arrive at the end of the year and calculate up taxes. I decided not to keep doing that and it was a much more sound practice to start a spreadsheet to keep track of all income and expenses.
What has prompted me to do this? First off, as I expand my business ventures, I need to better keep track of expenses and income. It’s hard to make good business decisions if you don’t have a complete picture of your income and expenses at any time. I hope to start making up some good business reports soon enough to focus efforts on more profitable areas of my business.
Secondly, and most importantly, I have decided that one of the biggest values we can exchange is the idea of abundance. The more abundant our income is, the easier it is to give to charity, or so goes the reason, but lately I have been taking a different path. What if giving to charity and feeling that abundance causes your income to increase? I am willing to test it out and make a lifestyle change.
From now on, 10% of my income goes to charity. In order to keep track of how much to give, I need a good record of my business income. The spreadsheet solves the problem.
