Let The Fun Begin

I am compiling Christmas lists right now. I am almost feel like Santa deciding what gifts to get people, but unlike Santa, I can’t withhold a gift just because they’ve been naughty. So naughty or nice, I am busy trying to come up with a list of gifts that will make people happy, like getting a PSP for my sons, Decaslim for my sister, or a new watch for my wife.

I guess this is the power of the holidays and the power of holiday shopping. I will spend days and days trying to find the best gifts at the best prices. Let the fun begin.

Know Where You Are With A GPS

When you first hit the road exploring the world as a TEFL teacher, you usually pack the usual travel items all in your backpack. This includes a dictionary, some reading books, a personal health kit, work clothes, fun clothes and maybe a few travel guide books. There is one extra that it should include and that is a GPS.

A little handheld portable GPS unit is a great gadget to help you know exactly where you are. Often times when traveling in a new country, you won’t be able to tell from the signs where exactly you are, but with a GPS you will know in an instant.

Trust me, you are traveling in a foreign country, it’s great to actually know where you are.

Exit Signs Online

I love surfing the net and discovering new sites to write about and even use. Not a day goes by that I am not surprised about something that I find online. For example, I just found a site where they sell exit signs. I never even knew that there was a site devoted to exit signs.

When I talk about exit signs, I am not talking about the freeway exit signs, I am talking building exit signs. There are many different kind and when you think about it, they are important. In an emergency, it’s good to know where the exit. I guess that’s why I always try to sit in the exit rows on the plane.

New Style Personalized Books

One result of the boom in information technology is the growth of personalized gifts. I remember when I was a little kid, my mom bought me a personalized book based on my name. The story was nice, but it wasn’t very personalized. That was then.

Fast forward to today and personalization is the name of the game. You can put in an order for a personalized gift and it will be personalized straight from the maker. Instead of getting a book that is only as personalized as a name, it’s possible to get children’s book that have photos of your child as well as any name or nicknames you have for him.

It’s amazing. I can only imagine how it would have been when I was a kid to get one of these new personalized books.

Toying With An Idea

I have been toying with the idea of putting together a Latin America teaching forum for quite awhile, but I always end up balking after giving it much thought. It looks like I have decided to push through and this week, I am doing a lot more to get it all a reality. Hopefully by next week at this time, the site will be live and active. Look for a post here and on several other sites once it happens. It could be a huge benefit for all teachers in Latin America as well as for teachers considering making the jump to Latin America.
