Putting In A Pergola In The Backyard?

Ah, spring is in the air and the weather is finally starting to warm up a bit, even if it is in fits and starts. It also means time to think about some outside projects. My wife wants us to put up a pergola arbor in the backyard and plant grapes on it. This means I am looking at wood pergolas online and seeing what might work in our backyard.

It looks like it will be a serious project, but it should be good and it should add to the value of the house. My only question for all of you is if we should plant grapes around it, something else or leave it without vegetation?

Mountain Folding Bike Or Regular Folding Bike?

I am looking at getting a folding bike to take with me exercising more and more. I have seen some nice 20 inch Dahon bikes but they don’t capture my attention like the Montague Paratrooper Bike. It’s beautiful and a full size mountain bike that can go just about anywhere. Either folded up or on the trail, it looks good. I just don’t know if I want to shell out the money needed.

What do you all think? Go with a standard folding bike or go with a folding mountain bike?

Find Your Own Path To Health

I am so glad that I got my health back through dieting and exercise. It has opened up so many avenues. I know that everyone loses weight different and everyone has different needs. Some might need to look around for supplements to help them, such as a friend who found HCG shots Austin, and some people do it with just excessive exercise. The one thing I found when getting back my health is that everyone’s body is different and everyone has a different pathway to better health.

I’ve said it before but I will say it again, if you want to lose weight, find the ways that work the best for you.

Learning About Blacksmithing

I have been loading up on different tutorials lately. I am really interested in blacksmithing for some reason. I like the idea of making things from old steel costing me nothing but my labor. It’s a beautiful idea and with an arc welder, I could do some amazing things.

In case you were wondering, a blacksmith doesn’t just make horseshoes. They did make horseshoes back in the day, but they made many other things. Just about anything that could be fashioned out of steel and iron, like tools, knives, plows and nails, if they needed to. There is a simple beauty to simple construction and it does interest me so much.

I am wishing that I could go ahead and start up a forge today! I think it will have to wait until this summer. The point is that I am willing to learn and willing to make at least one change on a new trajectory.

Shared Memories Of Construction Equipment

A conversation that started out biking yesterday brought back some good memories and it was almost shared memories with my wife, since we remember doing the same things in different places at different times. We were riding by a places with used skid steers for sale and my wife commented on how there were old ones in the mountain village where she grew up and she would play on them with her best friend. I had to chuckle because I played on old skid steers, front loaders and caterpillars when I was a kid at the empty lot behind our house as well. Funny how things can be.
