Research and Development On A Personal Level

I think we quickly lose sight of the fact that hard work and dedication is the principles of success in any job or business. Real success is hardly about luck, instead it is about perseverance and going the extra mile to make sure you have done your job well. It’s also about learning and education.

It’s about putting hard work into research and development. Often times, we think that only companies can devote time and money to research and development. It’s obvious that R&D pays off handsomely for companies and allows them to be even more successful, but R&D doesn’t have to be limited to companies.

Yes, individuals own it to themselves to invest in R&D. That means spending time and money to learn new ways of doing existing skills as well as learning new skill sets in general. At least one popular speaker has been suggesting that you devote 10% of your income and 10% of your time to personal R&D.

I think it’s a really good idea.
