Teaching with Lee Roy Week 3
I like payday, you know that day at the end of the month when you are paid for 30 or 31 days of toil and hell. Payday is a nice day, get myself a pay packet stuffed with a bunch of gray bills. It sure makes Lee Roy a happy camper when I gets my pay. Did I tell ya that I am very happy today? Yes , sir I am. It means a weekend on the town with a pretty young thing. It means paying the chinese guy who owns the serviced apartment I live with. He loves getting the 7 baht a unit from the air con on full blast when I have to eat instant noodles cuz I ain’t got any cash to buy anything better.
The best thing about payday is not having to eat the farang slop at the lunch room. See, in our contracts, they say they give us free lunch. What do those city folks say about free lunches? Well back home, when we is guests in a place, they know how to feed us and they give us quite the spread of good food, you know home cookin’ meals. Well, these is city folks, they give us a couple of vats of slop and a big vat of rice every day. Teachers is supposed to get a couple of spoonfuls of rice and put some of that slop on top of it. In between payday, when money is tighter than my 76 year old grandma, you gotta eat the slop, there is is noe scaping free food no matter how digusting it is. And it is slop, I wouldn’t even give to the hogs back home.
Today was payday, the only question was if we was getting paid before or after lunch, well my school aint all bad cuz we got paid before lunch. This means that I done got myself a good lunch outside, got me a some KFC, back home I don’t much eat KFC cuz it is too goll darn expense, but when I am earning me big bucks over here, I can afford to buy myself KFC every once in awhile, it’s finger lickin good. Just another thing about Thailand that is finger lickin’ good. Hehehe You know what I am doing this weekend. Jimmy Buffet singing another Saturday night is my motto.
The visa run went a-ok, just a hop to the border. I gots myself another stay in Thailand, gotta love it, that means I keep coming back for more and more. I guess I sign off and go spend some of my money.
